While my other blog series is about everything golf, this one is about faith and the funny way that everything always seems to fall into place.
So let's start from the beginning... why G.O.L.F.?
In itself, G.O.L.F. is just plain old golf. But G.O.L.F. is also two things that come together to give me purpose and drive me to pursue something more than just the game itself. G.O.L.F. is the ability to Go On and Live Fiercely because God Offers Life Forever.
The latter part is truly first because God is the reason I live for every day. It's not always easy, but at the end of the day, I always come running back to Him. Knowing that there's more to this life -- more than just this life -- helps me realize that each day is just another to be thankful and share the incredible story of sacrifice, promise, and salvation of a friend who has stood beside me through everything.
So why does the first part matter? Well, what I've learned from living for an omnipotent and omniscient God is that you can't just live life passively. You've got to go out every day and try your very best to use the talents God has given you. I know 100% that I can live my life with purpose because God has given me all that I need to do it and when my time is up, there's more than just this life to look forward to.
One of my favorite verses of all time is Hebrews 11:6 - "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him." This verse speaks volumes as to how faith is such an integral part to a fulfilling relationship with God. It is a part of a chapter in Hebrews called "Faith in Action". And boy oh boy, are there some references to some of the greatest stories in the Bible! So many of God's people let their faith in God lead their lives and this enabled them to live life to its fullest measure. They had no idea what was in store for them (good or bad), but by having just a little faith, they were rewarded beyond their wildest imaginations. Check it out if you want a glimpse of some riveting stories of faith in action!
So I've decided to give faith a try. Well, I'm actually currently on this faith-filled journey and it truly is an incredible ride. There are some stories I have to tell that make this faith thing a little more than just coincidence at its most immaculate level. But the saying is true: Who knows what is to come or how the past will shape the future? I'm just excited to see what God has stored up in His master plan. G.O.L.F.
